What is the SSDP Web Team?

Initial Mass Invitation on SSDPTalk, Mar 22, 2010

Hello SSDP Rockstars,

It was wonderful seeing you all at the conference, keep up all the great work you're doing! Please feel free to pass this on to your chapter lists ;)

Given the surge of interest in bringing SSDP's web presence to the next level, we are starting a volunteer International SSDP Web Team including national and local SSDP web-savvy leaders. We will be starting with just a listserve and some public notes on SSDPedia, but generally this will help share and organize the work-load of attaining our online goals and bringing us further into the new world.

I have already been planning to make some core changes to the back-end of the [US?] SSDP web site in the next couple months, and i believe we are open to (and due for) a full re-design. So we are inviting SSDP programmers, designers, and web power users who are willing to volunteer a bit of their minds and time towards moving our big picture forward online.

This group can grow many ways, including into a more formal body, so if you're interested please share your thoughts with us. But this is generally all we expect to ask members of this group:

Required - Participate in group discussions to the best of your ability, whenever you feel compelled to

Optional ways to help International SSDP...

  • Volunteer to build/upgrade a web component
  • Volunteer to run our presence on a new social network, or run a new niche on networks we already rock hard (eg FB, Twit)
  • Volunteer to help determine a new site layout and organizing the masses of content
  • Volunteer by submitting layout designs for the new site
  • Volunteer to start a SSDP Graphic Design Sub-Team, which could process custom design requests for chapters in need, while continuing to evolve SSDP's brand
  • Volunteer to help improve server configurations (we use WHM/cPanel, but email through Gmail)
  • Volunteer to build an official SSDP Facebook Application!

If you MIGHT be interested in helping with or chiming in on any on of these steps, and definitely if you have contacted me before, please email me, morgan@ssdp.org, with your name, email, chapter/affiliation, and any web sites you're working on (just out of curiousity), and i will add you to our list before we start less administrative discussions.

I look forward to making this a more collaborative effort. Thanks so much! morgan
